Privacy Policy

This policy explains how AlephVec Labs (Pty) Ltd (“AlephVec Labs”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information on this website and in our apps. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Each app also has its own detailed policy, linked below; for that app, its own policy gives the full detail.

2. Our apps, app by app

Genetic Calculator (in development)
Genetic Calculator has not been released and collects no personal information from anyone. We will publish its privacy details here before it is released.
3. This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts, fonts or embeds — everything is served from this domain.
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. These logs are kept for Cloudflare's standard periods.
4. When you contact us
If you email us, we use your email address and the contents of your message to reply and to deal with your request. Email to our addresses is forwarded by Cloudflare to a mailbox hosted by Google. We keep correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your request and for our records, then delete it.
5. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers (“operators” under POPIA) that process personal information only on our instructions: Supabase, Resend, Cloudflare and Google, as described above. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We may disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users or others.
6. Where it's stored
Our providers may store and process personal information on servers outside South Africa. We only use providers bound by data-protection terms that give a level of protection comparable to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as the law requires. App-specific periods are in each app's policy; correspondence is kept as described in section 4.
8. Security
All data travels over encrypted HTTPS connections, access to our systems is restricted, and app uploads are write-only so one installation cannot read anyone else's data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, and we will notify you and the Information Regulator if a security compromise affects your information, as POPIA requires.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request access to it;
- ask us to correct, update or delete it;
- object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time (this doesn't affect processing that already took place);
- not be subject to direct marketing without your consent — we don't send any;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
To exercise a right, email the Information Officer at privacy@alephveclabs.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we aim to respond within 30 days. You can also request account or data deletion directly.
10. Children
Our apps are not directed at children, and Balchron is intended only for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes & change log
We'll update this page when our practices change, and our apps will show material changes before they apply. The effective date at the top always shows the current version.
